2020 – JANUARY
Happy New Year!!
LIBRA & Libra Rising
So much to do so little time – It looks like your plate is overflowing as the New Year rings in Libra. There is so much planetary activity at the root of your chart AND the force of Mars is inciting that you take action to tackle it all right now! Of course, that is unrealistic. Yet, the drive to do is strong.
A newly arrived Jupiter in Capricorn (since early December) has in many ways set you up for a fast-paced January. It will be in your home, family, career & foundation sector right up until December 2020. That said, it will take a little time for you to adjust to changing circumstances.
While Jupiter incites the urge to expand, open yourself up to new experiences essentially driving you to push your limits it will be somewhat hindered in the realm of Capricorn. That’s a good thing as the changes underfoot will require staying power. Without setting healthy limits on the plans you are proposing it can all amount to far too much to handle – at least with grace.
If you are moving house, dealing with family matters, siblings, heaps of paperwork or find there is a ton to organize to set yourself up for success you’re lucky. Mars will be in Sagittarius on the 3rd. Energy levels will indeed be high until it moves on in mid-February. The trouble is Mars is not one for details and bouts of irritation, impatience can spur you on to hop from one thing to another leaving some tasks half finished. As Sagittarius is Jupiter-ruled however, Mars will resonate with the more cautious, slow moving influence of Capricorn (where Jupiter will be for the year). And so, the one step forward two steps back kind of energy will be one to contend with until you can get in touch with your inner calm - realizing only so much can be done in a day. Not only that it will practically force you to prioritize.
That said, two major events outshine Mars & Jupiter. It’s rare to say the least. The Lunar Eclipse in Cancer on the 10thand the most talked about astrological event of the year, the Saturn, Pluto conjunction. Neither will bring about anything that hasn’t already been on your radar. However, it’s important to cover how Saturn and Pluto have influenced your chart up until now, requiring a dip into the past. The conjunction of this heavy-hitting duo is also within a few degrees of the Eclipse so it cannot really be discussed without reference to the other.
First, Pluto – the intensifier, the all excuses aside ,depth defying transformer has had its sights set in your ‘home zone’ since 2008. You may have noticed the first hints that your idea of home was on the verge of major change. However, it may have also taken a while before that became evident. Pluto moves slowly. It works to thoroughly purge an area of life to make room for another. For many it has been a painful process. The good news is you have already done most of the work.
Other areas of your life were also affected. Tensions around career, relationships would have reached levels of intensity that no doubt changed your life in profound ways. Marriages, divorces, deaths, job changes – some or all of these likely brought a new you into existence.
Saturn works in a different way. Instead of provoking what is best described as a death and rebirth process of Pluto Saturn seeks to build. It encourages moving slowly, cautious with intent to take the right steps to create a more meaningful life within bounds of material world rules. The main message has been one of taking responsibility and doing what needs to be done. Saturn is not a fun-loving vibe to be sure. Still, wherever it resides is where we gain a solid sense of security, where we focus our strongest achievements – the kind that last and shape the lives we live.
And so, when Saturn and Pluto meet arm and arm on January 12th, what you have not built in a manner that you are absolutely sure is strong enough to outlast winds of change in heart and mind you will be challenged. Several facts will become obvious this month 1. You can’t bullshit yourself and 2. If something needs changing either you will take responsibility to fix, transform the situation and/or end it or the winds of change will rush in to do it for you. A bit harsh? Maybe. It depends on how well you have heeded Saturn and Pluto’s urgings.
The Eclipse in Cancer on January 10th resonates with this message. However, the energetic ‘shift’ under this lunation is more likely to focus on career matters. If you aren’t happy with the way your career is going you’re apt to look for something else. Again, this isn’t a new thing. It is also possible that you have no choice to make a change due to family reasons. If it already hasn’t been implied, a home move, relocation of the company you work for is also likely. Since the Cancer/Capricorn eclipse series has been creating a touch of unsteadiness around main structural pillars of your life home, family, work, relationships there are a huge variety of possible manifestations.
It may be useful to look back at events during the eclipses in 2018 and 2019 also part of the Capricorn/Cancer series. Each Eclipse spans an influence of six months. Every ‘shift’ that occurs feeds into the type of experience likely to manifest during the subsequent eclipse. Here is the list of eclipse dates in this series.
July 12th, 2018 – Solar Eclipse in Cancer
January 5th, 2019 – Solar Eclipse in Capricorn
July 2nd, 2019 – Solar Eclipse in Cancer
July 16th, 2019 – Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn
December 25th, 2019 – Solar Eclipse in Capricorn
There are three more (dates below), including the one on January 10th remaining before the North Node shifts into Gemini on June 5th, 2020. (Read more about the Gemini/Sagittarius Eclipses in June 2020’s forecast):
January 10th, 2020 – Lunar Eclipse in Cancer
June 5th, 2020 – Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius
June 20th, 2020 – Solar Eclipse in Cancer
July 5th, 2020 – Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn
Now that we have covered the ‘main events’ of January and, in fact, themes that will shape most of 2020 there is more. We aren’t even half way through the month!
On January 11th Uranus stations direct re-activating a transformative sector your chart that also governs finances. While it has been in this area of your chart for a brief stay in May 2018 and settled for a longer stay (6 years) in March 2019 it is still considered a relatively new vibe. Uranus provokes change in the swiftest of manners. Its energies are bit spastic, producing unexpected events to sweep in for the purpose of progressing you forward faster. In effect, it shakes anything that has become too stagnant in your life. It can be exciting but it can also create nervousness even a pronounced anxiety. As it awakens in your eighth house big investments, unexpected changes in financial status, taxes, wills, inheritances can find you either biting your nails or jumping for joy. Uranus is never dull. However, it is not always casting bolts of lightning your way Libra nor is it always an unexpected thing. This month while major changes are in the process of unfolding, as mentioned, you probably already have a good idea of what to expect and from here it’s looking pretty good.
Mid-month your ruling planet Venus (in harmony with Uranus) can indeed elicit a dream like quality to the scenarios you are facing when it enters Pisces on January 13th. It will be here until early February.
On top of that planets will also gather in Aquarius – Mercury on the 16th, the Sun on the 30th AND a New Moon that is set to stir (positively for you) on January 24th. These influences can level out the hectic energy coursing through most of January. Dare I say you’ll have time for a little freedom-loving fun? Yes, yes I can.
