2020 – JANUARY
Happy New Year!!
SCORPIO & Scorpio Rising
The opening of the New Year brings with it an urge to do more, experience more of life Scorpio. It seems the universe is set up, has been setting you up, for exactly that. You’ll get what you wish for. Life will be busy.
Jupiter’s recent arrival in Capricorn in early December has likely enticed a need to start making plans early. Travel is probably high on the agenda. You need not plan a trip across the world, even short trips, taking more time out to see friends, chat with neighbours down the street or becoming more involved in local community is bound to tickle your fancy. As Capricorn rules your third house of short travels, siblings, congenial chats and constant activity the phrase life is what you make it can resound in even the little things you do.
Jupiter works to expand activity in whatever zone it falls, yet, truth be told, in this particular placement it can be somewhat restricted. Thus, the desire to work at ‘it’ will be strong. That is, no matter the obstacle you are bound to find ways to push passed. That could mean even extra time engaged in due diligence. On the work front creating a flexible plan of action with an eye for the long term would certainly be wise.
There may be a temptation to spend more money than usual as you get busy getting busy Scorpio. That can be particularly true while Mars tours Sagittarius between January 3rd and February 16th. Perhaps you are in sales, work on commission or public relations is part of your job description. Whatever the case, Mars skips to a similar beat as Jupiter while in Sagittarius with an aim to always push for more. As this influence happens to be in one of your financial houses indeed you are apt to be doling out the dollars. Needless to say, if you are faced with obstacles, or feel limited, the temptation to buy yourself out of a corner will be strong. On the other hand, it may be necessary to spend more order to make more. One thing is for sure the cosmos encourages being a little more cautious and conservative in your approach this year overall.
Let’s move on to other planetary happenings that have major hand in how 2020 unfolds. The Lunar Eclipse in Cancer on January 10th and the Saturn, Pluto conjunction on January 12th. As the eclipse is within a few degrees of the much talked about Saturn, Pluto meetup one cannot be discussed without the other. And in order to gain a better understanding of Saturn and Pluto we’ll have to take a brief tour into the past.
Pluto crossed into Capricorn in 2008. You may not recall any significant events from that time. However, Pluto moves slowly as its aim is to completely transform certain aspects of your life. By now, looking back, you will have undoubtedly noticed 1. there isn’t much you take for granted anymore 2. life is serious business, even when literal business is not involved and 3. Words have power. As such Pluto has set its sights on transforming your communication style, your relationship with brothers, sisters, friends and given you good reason to always read the fine print.
Saturn presents a slightly different story. It did not enter Capricorn until December 2017. Saturn, similar to Pluto, is also serious, breeding a need for caution. However, it focuses more on rebuilding what Pluto, in a sense demolishes. And instead of obsessing Saturn is a touch more practical, with a keener sense of patience and timing. In essence Saturn not only wants to build but build it right the first time ensuring all efforts result in achievements that last. If you are building a house for instance more time should be spent on solidifying the foundation than decorating the walls no? At least that’s what Saturn would say. In any case, with Saturn also in your communication sector contracts, agreements, the written word have required both a strong sense of responsibility and a eyes dead set on ‘what this could mean’ for the long term.
The work you have done to establish yourself in terms of business and personal relationships will show now Scorpio. Under the Eclipse and when Saturn and Pluto meet arm in arm, it is the weak spots, those things you didn’t not consider, take responsibility for that will give you the most trouble. As Pluto and Saturn inch over the last degrees of Capricorn exiting 2023 and 2021 respectively, chances are you have put in your time, have done most of the work. And so, it behooves you to consider any troublesome issues you’re dealing with now are being highlighted so you can address it straight on for the purpose of reinforcing a foundation already built.
The Lunar Eclipse in Cancer on January 10th carries much the same sentiment. However, the main area of focus seems to be on family, especially your children. If you don’t have kids perhaps you work in a creative field or consider your work a labour of love. Also, if you are on the dating scene it seems the universe is encouraging you to consider a different approach.
It may be useful to look back at events during the eclipses in 2018 and 2019 -also part of the Capricorn/Cancer series. Each Eclipse spans an influence of six months. Every ‘shift’ that occurs feeds into the type of experience likely to manifest during the subsequent eclipse. Here is the list of eclipse dates in this series.
July 12th, 2018 – Solar Eclipse in Cancer
January 5th, 2019 – Solar Eclipse in Capricorn
July 2nd, 2019 – Solar Eclipse in Cancer
July 16th, 2019 – Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn
December 25th, 2019 – Solar Eclipse in Capricorn
There are three more (dates below), including the one on January 10th remaining before the North Node shifts into Gemini on June 5th, 2020. (Read more about the Gemini/Sagittarius Eclipses in June 2020’s forecast):
January 10th, 2020 – Lunar Eclipse in Cancer
June 5th, 2020 – Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius
June 20th, 2020 – Solar Eclipse in Cancer
July 5th, 2020 – Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn
As you can see there is quite a bit to consider this first month of the year. Believe it or not, there is more. Although, the influences already discussed are likely to overshadow all others and even have an echo effect for most of 2020.
That said, on January 11th rebel-rouser Uranus stations direct in Taurus. Having been somewhat asleep, in retrograde motion, since August 2019 it’s awakening will be noticeable. As it moves through your relationship & commitment zone the urge to break free from virtually anything perceived as limiting perks up once again. That can spell trouble if you aren’t on the same page with a loved one. Also, as there are so many limiting factors influencing your chart a push pull feel will be characteristic of Uranus’ travels through Taurus. That is especially true between now and August 2020. Again, you’ll have to be honest about your need for independence. In that vein, Uranus can work exceptionally well for you in business. Often success is secured by doing the opposite of what everyone else is doing.
You will have no shortage of inspiration with Venus moving into Pisces on January 13th, to stay until early February. As she glides through dream-weaver Pisces your creative juices flow and a genuine sense of love in all you do will shine through. Relationships with your children are likely to be harmonious as well. Clearly, as the second half of the month gets underway, the air will be a little sweeter. It should be noted that on January 27th and 28th Venus may cause you to think things are better than they are though. Also, as Mars sits at a hard angle to Neptune you may find yourself bewildered by the behavior of your children, or a new love in your life.
Lastly, Mercury, the Sun, and a New Moon in Aquarius on the 24th will also work to equalize tensions, especially in regard to domestic matters. Do take note that the New Moon clashes with Uranus, further suggesting unpredictable behaviors on your part or ‘theirs’ can leave you scratching your head.
All in all January seems set to be one busy month. It will feel like you’re a horse busting out of the gates believing this race is but a sprint. It won’t be until you’ve figured out you’re actually enrolled in a marathon that you’ll manage to catch the right pace.
