2020 – JANUARY
Happy New Year!!
VIRGO & Virgo Rising
The year begins on a sweet note Virgo. Life affirming Jupiter expands its good graces joining your ruling planet Mercury and the Sun in fellow earth sign Capricorn. This happens to be the area of your chart that brings about new love, inspires creativity, fosters the freedom-lover in you and builds an unwavering sense of resolve in working with and towards anything that enriches your soul. Capricorn also governs the manner in which you express yourself.
Despite the fact that Jupiter is known as the luckiest planet of them all however, it can feel somewhat restricted under Capricorn’s gaze. Although, the benefits to be had will have incredible staying power. That is if you are willing to put in the effort. Most Virgo’s are. And so Jupiter is bound to work hard in your favor right up until December of 2020.
On January 3rd Mars echoes the sentiments of Jupiter as it enters your domestic sector in Sagittarius. Here the urge to get moving, expending energy on either improving your home or foundational aspects of your career is exceptionally strong. The trouble is you may be a little impatient with yourself, perhaps not getting enough done with the time you have – at least by your standards. You may want to question whether you’ve chosen to take on too much Virgo. Over doing is, in fact, Jupiter’s Achille’s heel. Mars too tends to forget to draw reasonable lines when under the influence of Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius. It is something to be aware of until February 16th when Mars moves into Capricorn, effectively cooling your heels.
That said, during the first week of January it would do you well to rely on your more practical, sensible side – even if you do come off as a touch too serious. Truth be told with stern Saturn and no bullshit Pluto approaching a bear hug the pressure is on to make the absolute best of what you have- skills, resources, time. Doing too much too quickly, as you well know, can result in work that won’t meet your expectations anyway. And it seems expectations you placed on yourself hold greater weight than anyone else's.
Not only that, but, in a way, it seems you are earning your freedom these days. Perhaps you are working in a way that will afford you more time for leisure or hanging out with your kids, grandchildren, nephews, nieces. Developing your presence in a creative field may also be what’s lighting your fire. And relationships? Well that can be tricky business and something we’ll return to later on.
Whatever the case, chances are you are already in the midst of building a more fulfilling life for yourself. Time, patience and focus is what it takes to get ‘the’ job done right. Besides you are not one to indulge in wishful thinking to get what you want from life are you? If you are (it’s possible considering Neptune’s current influence in your chart) the Lunar Eclipse in Cancer and the Saturn & Pluto conjunction will drive the point home.
The Eclipse in Cancer on January 10th is one of the most significant in the Cancer/Capricorn eclipse series. This is mainly due to its proximity, timing wise and physically to the much talked about ‘aspect of the year’. That of course, is the Saturn and Pluto conjunction.
In order to understand the possible manifestations of this Eclipse it’s necessary to take another look at the influence Pluto & Saturn has had in your life up until now.
In 2008 Pluto first entered Capricorn. At that time you would have sensed a change in the air. You may have moved home or let go of some aspect of what home really meant to you. As it has since worked its way through your fifth house, family issues especially in regards to children, changes in the way you express yourself, how you relate to others has undergone a profound transformation.
Pluto moves slowly. It is often difficult to tell what or how you are transforming until enough time has passed. One thing is for sure Virgo you really have. Bits of us die, are left behind where Pluto applies pressure over the years. In effect, we go through a deep psychological purge allowing us to connect with deeper parts of ourselves. Those deeper parts do, eventually, begin to bubble up to the surface and shape the lives we live. Pluto has also put pressure on your financial zones and made you wary of certain friendships, groups of people that weren’t keen on you being you. And so as Pluto presses on the last few degrees of Capricorn (carrying on into Aquarius in 2023) you are likely accustomed to its presence.
Saturn, on the other hand, has only been in Capricorn since December 2017. It has a different agenda than Pluto, yet, can be equally trying. Saturn wants to solidify, build a useful structure from which to operate. It encourages taking on responsibilities with a long-term view in mind and commands respect in its influential zone.
As Saturn is intent on building a secure program and Pluto has its sights set on testing the truth, validity of that structure, often with a good sized wrecking ball in tow, you can see why the importance of their upcoming meet-up has been emphasized. In the simplest terms it seems you will be challenged to decide, genuinely tap into what kind of life you want to live and then pull up your pants and take full responsibility for building it. The pressure has been apparent for most of 2019. On January 12th it will hit a peak.
The Lunar Eclipse in Cancer on January 10th will broadcast a similar message. However, it will concentrate on one particular aspect of life that Pluto & Saturn have also been intent on evolving. The dynamic of certain friendships, co-workers or groups of any kind that you belong will likely undergo a noticeable shift. If you have positioned yourself well during any of the other eclipses in the Cancer/Capricorn series you can expect positive developments. If however, you really don’t feel like you belong or can’t be yourself it may be time to move on.
It may be useful to look back at events that have occurred during the eclipses in 2018 and 2019. Each Eclipse has a span of influence that lasts six months. Every ‘shift’ that occurs feeds into the type of experience that is likely to manifest during the subsequent eclipse. Here is the list of eclipse dates in this series.
July 12th, 2018 – Solar Eclipse in Cancer
January 5th, 2019 – Solar Eclipse in Capricorn
July 2nd, 2019 – Solar Eclipse in Cancer
July 16th, 2019 – Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn
December 25th, 2019 – Solar Eclipse in Capricorn
There are three more (dates below), including the one on January 10th remaining before the North Node shifts into Gemini on June 5th, 2020.
January 10th, 2020 – Lunar Eclipse in Cancer
June 5th, 2020 – Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius
June 20th, 2020 – Solar Eclipse in Cancer
July 5th, 2020 – Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn
Yet another ‘main event’ is in the wings during the second week of January. Rebel-minded Uranus awakens from retrograde on January 11th. Uranus is a funny planet. Its vibe tends to be sporadic, unpredictable and liable to cause at least as much excitement as episodes of the jitters. Lucky for you, planets in earth signs, such as Taurus, are on their best behavior- most of the time. On the plus side then if you are hoping to hop a jet plane, engage in a new course of study it will thrill you to the bone. A willingness to try new things, have new experiences, to allow the emergence of a new perspective keen on quickly tossing the old can refresh your life in a flash. Not only that, a change of mind or even life philosophy this vibe provokes has the potential to truly move and enhance your life in ways you may have never thought possible. With Uranus stationing direct then, you can expect to feel a more potent drive to explore more of what the world has to offer, especially between January 11th and August 2020.
Returning to the topic of relationships – it’s tricky business for you Virgo. In one way your fifth house of romance, ruled by Capricorn, can make you feel a touch stifled. Perhaps you’re a bit defensive, not willing to forgo ‘what’s practical’ even if someone incites a googly-eye effect. In essence, romance isn’t likely to come with a light hearted easy going touch.
Also, as the faster moving planets begin to greet Pisces in your marriage and commitment sector it can be difficult to see through the dreamy fog so to speak. This is even more likely between January 13th and early February as Venus drifts into Pisces on its way to meet Neptune. And so, while your attitude towards love can be a bit tough in one way, you can also slip into fantasy land, seeing only what you want to see. As your mindset tosses between the two that can make for a pretty confusing romantic life.
It should be noted here as well that you may attract those who need you far more than you need them. While that is not inherently a bad thing Virgo if this kind of scenario goes on too long it can be draining. Learning to set clear and firm boundaries is a must.
Over the second half of the month a strong Aquarian influence takes shape. Taking care of your health will be high on the agenda. So high, in fact, that it should be a breeze to set-up a new and improved routine. There is a pronounced desire to make absolute sure your feeling fit and fine to take on 2020. Not only that, it seems your mind will be focused on ensuring every corner of your life is in tip top shape. It will need to be if you truly want to manifest this ‘new world’ your building for yourself. Saturn will also visit your health zone briefly this year, returning for a longer stay in 2021 suggesting sensible routines you put in place this year will indeed have staying power.
The New Moon in Aquarius on the 24th is probably an ideal time to try out a new health regime and/or add something new to your every-day list. While it will be in a hard angle to Uranus there is a chance a burst of inspiration arises from a sudden perspective change. It can be as if a light bulb goes off shining a light on an aspect of yourself that is in need of re-evaluation and perhaps re-application.
All in all January is looking good for you Virgo. An army of planets in earth sign Capricorn, and activity in Taurus will support your proposed plans granting you added willpower to start doing those things that you’ve always wanted to do but just never seemed to have the time. You will have to readjust and refine your plans along the way to be sure. Remember, while Jupiter encourages doing more it also has the tendency to want to do too much in too little time. Consider that life really is all about timing, and once you have that down pat, well there will be no stopping you Virgo.
